Come along to Erskine Park Home and bring a smile

-

People are invited to go along and support armed forces veterans at the one of the happiest homes in Erskine’s community.

The Erskine Park Home looks after veterans with dementia and is always trying to make life as pleasant as possible for residents.

And people can go along this Sunday and enjoy a summer fete for all the family.

A spokesman said:“It is a very happy home.

“We will be having music, a raffle, home baking and more.”

Also on the menu will be a barbecue and stalls that families can browse.

The aim of the event is to allow people to see the work of Erskine Park Home and to meet residents who have served in the armed forces, often for many decades.

Erskine cares for almost 1,000 residents each year.

The aim of its care homes is to provide veterans with the companionship of like-minded people.

The charity likes to say it not only cares for its veterans – it cares about them.

It says one person-centred care is tailored to the needs of each individual veteran.

All bedrooms are open to a general living space with dining areas and are fully accessible with en-suite facilities.

The dedicated activities team provide social activities, entertainment and organise day or evening trips which are of huge importance to resident’s health and well-being, the charity says.

And for veterans who need help to begin the next chapter of their lives, Erskine says it offers social, recreation and training facilities at the activity centre, single and family accommodation and employment opportunities in partnership with Scotland Bravest Manufacturing Co.

Every one is invited to Sunday’s event at Princess Park, Erskine.

Doors open at 11am and the fun goes on until 4pm with entry just £1 which includes a cup of tea and a cake.

Money raised will go to support Erskine’s work.
