Sheriff warns bully to stay away from his ex or face jail

Menace terrorised former partner for a month

A creep has been banned from contacting his ex after he subjected her to a month-long campaign of harassment.

Peter Connelly, 31, bombarded Stephanie Day with sinister phone calls and social media messages.

He even turned up at her home to terrorise her – sparking fears for her safety.

Connelly admitted hounding the woman during a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew warned he could be jailed if he flouts the contact ban.

He said: “I will make a NonHarassment Order.

“I am going to prohibit you from contacting Stephanie Day. It will be for a period of two years.

“If you are stupid enough to contact her, you will be in breach of the order.

“That is a criminal offence.”

Connelly targeted the woman between February and March.

They had been in a relationship for around a year.

He repeatedly called her and sent menacing emails and messages.

He turned up at her Erskine home unannounced leaving her terrified.

The weirdo was arrested after she revealed what was happening to cops.

Prosecutors branded his behaviour “intimidating”.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Paul earlier claimed his client was struggling to cope with the death of his sister, cousin and four other relatives.

He said: “Clearly, there are issues that he will have to consult with professionals to deal with.”

Connelly was given four months to prove he could behave.

He was warned he must toe the line or face a stiff sentence.

Sheriff Pettigrew warned Connelly the matter was not going away.

He added: “I hope you have learned a lesson.

“There are previous domestic convictions.

“You cannot behave like this. “I will give you a period of four months to be of good behaviour.

“You are not going to be admonished for this.”

Connelly, of Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, has been ordered to return to the dock in December.

If you are stupid enough to contact her, you will be in breach of the order. That is a criminal offence
