Teenager takes on the Cairngorms for charity

An adventurous teenager has hiked the Cairngorm mountains and raised a pile of money for a leading charity.

For Chelsea Kerr, 16, this was in addition to the hundreds of pounds she raised previously for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

The Howwood teen donated almost £ 700 to the organisation, following a sponsored cycle and a sponsored walk, and now she has reached a further summit and raised £570 from donations for her latest fundraiser.

Chelsea is driven in her efforts for the charity because she wants to see children of her age, who are perhaps less fortunate, given a greater shot at life.

She said: “The climb near Aviemore was great and I really enjoyed it.

“I would like to say me thank you to everyone who kindly donated and to all the people that donated items to my stall to raise money for the charity.”

Chelsea has revealed the charity always shows its gratitude for her attempts to raise money for the sick kids in their care.

Mum Christine Donnelly expressed her pride in Chelsea’s fundraising efforts.

She said: “Even the lady in the hospital said it’s a lot of money for a girl of this age to be raising!”

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, formerly known as Yorkhill, was set up with the vision of ensuring all children and young people treated there have the best care and experience possible.

It says it fundraises to ensure that every baby, child and young person treated at Scotland’s largest children’s hospital receives the extra special care they deserve.

The charity says its supporters and the children, families and staff it helps at the hospital sit at the heart of everything it does.
