SPAR is top of the shops as it donates £7,000 to Erskine

Ve t e r a n s ’ C h a r i t y Erskine has received a generous food and drinks sponsorshi­p from SPAR Scotland for the biggest event in its calendar.

The Erskine Military Ball will be held next month at the Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Hotel, with almost 500 guests attend the blacktie event for an evening of good food, drinks and entertainm­ent.

Convenienc­e store chain SPAR Scotland presented a cheque in the amount of £ 7,000 to Erskine’s head of fundraisin­g and communicat­ions Sara Bannerman.

Area manager for SPAR Scotland, David Cunningham, said: “We are delighted, once again, to sponsor the annual Erskine Military Ball. This is always a wonderful evening and we are proud to support Erskine and the remarkable work it does in caring for our Veterans.”

Sara added: “Erskine is delighted to welcome, for the third year running, SPAR Scotland as Food and Drink Sponsor for The Erskine Military Ball 2019.

“As we need to raise over £9m each year to support our veterans, events such the Military Ball, our annual flagship event, play a vital part in our fundraisin­g work.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous support of SPAR Scotland and indeed to all our sponsors who help to make a such a huge and positive impact on the lives of the Veterans cared for at Erskine.”

Erskine cares for almost 1,000 residents every year.

It aims to provide veterans with the companions­hip of like-minded people.

It says its person-centred care is tailored to the needs of each individual veteran.

A dedicated activities team provides social activities, entertainm­ent and organise day or evening trips which the charity says are of huge importance to resident’s health and wellbeing

The Erskine Military Ball 2019 takes place on Friday, September 20, and is hosted by Scottish singer Michelle McManus, with entertainm­ent from Edward Reid.
