Sign up for uni’s digital learning course
Staff at the Scottish Social Services Council are boosting their knowledge by doing a uni course.
Barrie Wilson and George Burton are both taking on the University of the West of Scotland’s Digital Learning Design course.
The course allows students to develop an understanding of learning technologies and their application to effective learning, as well as acquire and apply knowledge and skills in digital learning development and implementation.
Barrie, a learning and development advisor for digital learning, said:“The way people learn is changing.
“There are much less opportunities for face-to-face training and digital learning has greatly increased.
“The course modules cover the fundamentals of effective learning design, user experience, learning in a networked world, and assessment and recognition of learning.
“We also have an opportunity to apply all the knowledge and skills we have learned in a project.”
George, also a learning and development advisor, said one of the best things about doing the course has been the opportunity to share ideas and experiences.
“The course design encourages this collaborative approach, sharing ideas and experiences with other learning and development professionals, which we have all benefited from,” he said.
The course has been designed for professionals in learning and development roles who have a recognised professional qualification for their sector and experience in delivering learning, such as social work, social services, health or education.
The programme is delivered entirely online and UWS says it is applicable to any professional who has a requirement to create online content for learning.
