Buddies can meet the stars at fun day

- DAVID CAMPBELL

St Mirren fans have a chance to grab a selfie with their favourite player at the club’s funfilled open day.

Supporters will get a rare chance to watch as manager Jim Goodwin puts his players through their paces on the Simple Digital Arena pitch.

And after the session Saints fans can grab a snap with their heroes in the stadium’s 1877 Club Lounge.

The women’s team will also run coaching sessions in the Airdome at the Greenhill Road ground.

There’s lots more going at the free event, which runs from 10.30am to 2.30pm tomorrow, including kids activities.

Singers Kieran Whyte and Zoe Tait The Ladybugg will keep people entertained as they queue to meet the squad.

The club shop kiosks will also be open.

Money will be collected for the St Mirren Football Club Community Trust, which runs a range of programmes supporting people across the region.

Gayle Brannigan, from the club’s community trust, says the day will be the perfect chance to get up close to the team’s stars.

She said: “This is going to be a great day out for all the family.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity to meet your favourite players from both the men’s and women’s teams.

“People can also catch the first team players on the pitch for a live training session and the women’s team will be running skills sessions .”

She added: “There is so much going on besides the football. We have musicians, inflatables, face painting, go -karting and lots more.

“And the best thing about the day is it’s free. We will be collecting for the club’s Community Trust.

“All the money raised will be invested in community projects as we continue to grow our range of programmes.”
