Cops called after booze trio went on rampage

- RON MOORE

Three tanked- up yobs sparked mayhem for householders during a drunken rampage.

Brothers Steven, 39, and Scott McMaster, 38, and pal Kenneth MacIver, 39, staggered into a woman’s garden in Erskine, while passing around a bottle of booze.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard the trio, who had been on a bender, were banging items in her garden when householder Nicola Murray attempted to chase them away.

The complainer came under a “barrage of abuse” from the louts who started throwing things at her windows and doors and calling her a “f****** cow.”

They also shouted and swore at her neighbour who intervened.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Megan Glancy said: “At 3.50pm on the day in question witness Nicola Murray was at her home in Park Grove, Erskine, when she heard banging coming outside.

“She looked out her window and observed the three accused to be leaving her front garden.

“She went to her front door and told them to leave.

“All three became verbally abusive towards her.

“She was subject to a barrage of abuse. Including them calling her a ‘f****** cow.’

“Neighbour Scot Stevenson who could hear Ms Murray shouting, looked out his window where he observed the accused Kenneth MacIver to be standing in his driveway.

“He then observed accused Steven and Scot McMaster coming into his driveway.

“When he went to the front door, he too was subject to a barrage of abuse. They told him ‘f*** off.’

“One of accused was in possession of a green bottle of which all three accused were partaking.”

The court heard the householder warned she was phoning police when the yobs turned violent.

The prosecutor added: “The complainer told them she was contacting police.

“All three accused began throwing items at the windows and front door of her property.

“She called police and while doing so could hear glass smashing.

“Her neighbour Scot Stevenson then left his property to confront the accused, however, all three had made off.”

Cops attended and quickly traced the accused after speaking to witnesses.

Yesterday Scott McMaster and Steven McMaster, both of Greenock and co-accused Kenneth MacIver, formerly of Erskine, but now living in Stornoway, Western Isles, pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm, in that they entered the garden uninvited, shouted, swore, and repeatedly struck windows and doors and smashed a glass bottle on April 25.

Sheriff Tom McCartney handed both MacIver and Scott McMaster a Community Payback Order comprising 90 hours of unpaid work to be completed within three months.

He deferred sentence on Steven McMaster to call for background reports.

He will be dealt with on September 9.
