Renfrewshire charity, Datesn-Mates has been named as a finalist in the 25th Birthday National Lottery Awards
2019 and they now need your readers’ support to help us win.
The 25th Birthday National Lottery Awards are the annual search for the UK’s favourite National Lotteryfunded projects.
They celebrate the inspirational people and projects who do extraordinary things with the help of National Lottery funding.
On average, National Lottery players raise around £30million for good causes every week.
This year is particularly special as it’s the National Lottery’s 25th birthday.
Dates-n-Mates is a dating and friendship agency run for and by adults with learning disabilities.
They are competing against nine other projects from around the UK for the title of the National Lottery’s Best Community and Charity Project.
They could be in with the chance of winning £10,000 and appearing in an awards ceremony on a BBC One show later in November.
Express readers could support them by casting a vote at www. lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards or by tweeting using their unique hashtag #NLAdatesnmates. But please be quick as voting closes at midnight on Wednesday, August 21.
Backbusbid, Gavin
Not for the first time, our local MP focuses his time and staff resources on matters that This time it is transport.
Either Gavin Newlands has too much time on his hands, or he lacks confidence in his MSP colleagues.
By moonlighting as a MSP, he promotes the Scottish Government’s vacuous transport strategy consultation.
Unlike his Labour counterparts, he and his party remain silent on the fundamental issue of publicly-owned local transport.
Spend five minutes at any bus stop in Renfrewshire and you will hear complaints about the monopolisation of bus services in the area.
This SNP administration at Holyrood is asking questions that it already knows the answer to.
So, rather than issuing endless press releases about local bus services, do something tangible and support Labour’s call for public transport to be publicly owned.
