House prices down in Paisley

-

Home owners in Paisley have been hit with a dip in the value of their properties.

Data from Registers of Scotland ( RoS) show the average price of a house in Renfrewshire dropped to £121,375 in June this year.

This is down from £123,064 in the same month of last year, representing a fall of 1.4 per cent, costing families £1,689 each.

And the Paisley area’s performance is in contrast to the majority of the country, where price increases were recorded in 20 of Scotland’s 32 local authorities.

Business development director Kenny Crawford said: “Average house prices in Scotland have been growing faster than the UK annual rate since March 2019, and in all but two months since December 2017.

“The likely cause is the continuing fall of house prices in London, which is reflected in the overall UK figure.”

However the number of houses changing hands in Renfrewshire is on the up, with 282 homes being sold in April 2019, compared the same month of 2018 where 277 homes were sold.

Property bosses added said it takes up to eight weeks for a sale to be registered, so data published for June reflects the latest available records.

E a s t R e n f re w s h i re witnessed a 6.2 per cent rise in house prices, with the average home valued at £235,221, up from £221,585.

Glasgow saw a 3.7 per cent bump, with property prices rising to £ 134,162 from £129,370.

Homeowners living in Inverclyde witnessed the average price rise to £107,126 from £106,443, an increase of 0.6 per cent.

The largest increase was in Stirling, where the average price increased by 6.4 per cent to £190,076.

The largest decrease was recorded in South Ayrshire, where the average price fell by 5.3 per cent to £130,917.

Edinburgh remains the most expensive place to live with the average price of a house at £263,233.

East Ayrshire is the cheapest with an average price of £94,765.
