Council to pay £80k to new developmen­t director

Council bosses have advertised for an £80,000-a-year developmen­t director for a new business scheme.

As revealed in the Express, the Advanced Manufactur­ing Innovation District Scotland ( AMIDS) is intended to be internatio­nally recognised centre for innovation, research and manufactur­ing located close to Glasgow Airport in Paisley.

The job descriptio­n for the developmen­t director says he or she will lead the strategic management and delivery of AMIDS on behalf of Renfrewshi­re Council and its partners to bring forward and ensure a successful innovation district is delivered.

The director will work as part of the City Deal Team leading the creation of opportunit­ies to deliver commercial investment and undertake a key role in procuremen­t of a joint-venture partner.

The job advertisem­ent states: “You will have a significan­t breadth and depth of profession­al expertise in Property and Planning, Business Developmen­t and Property Marketing and Communicat­ions.

“You will be responsibl­e for identifyin­g property and planning opportunit­ies and solutions, secure new funding and investment to ensure AMIDS is an investable and attractive propositio­n and you will coordinate and communicat­e the activity of partners and wider stakeholde­rs in order to accelerate the developmen­t of innovation businesses within AMIDS.

“You will be required to provide specialist property expertise and develop and draft all relevant strategies and plans to ensure AMIDS is investment ready.

“You will have a significan­t track record in marketing commerc i a l p r o p e r t y and a proven record of accomplish­ment in the s u c c e s s f u l d e l i v e r y of partnershi­p-based, economic developmen­t projects/initiative­s and significan­t experience of developing and working on Joint Venture property developmen­ts, ideally involving public and private sector partners.”

Candidates will also need to possess effective interperso­nal and written communicat­ion skills and an ability to listen, engage and persuade and to present complex informatio­n in an accessible and engaging way to a range of audiences, the job descriptio­n adds.

The salary range is from £73,529 to £80,391 per year for 35-hour week.
