Police hunt racist teen

A teenage boy hurled racist abuse at a member of staff at a Linwood takeaway.

The youth aimed a hatefilled rant at the 51-year-old man at the Tandoori Palace on Saturday night.

The out-of-control teen was refused service and kicked off at the Indian restaurant around 10pm.

Furious members of staff alerted the police but the youth, who is described as being around 15 years old and wearing a yellow jumper, made off.

Cops are examining CCTV and quizzing witnesses in a bid to identify the lout.

A spokesman said: “If you witnessed this incident or have any informatio­n that could lead to the identifica­tion of the suspect then we would urge you to contact police.”

Meanwhile officers also arrested a 33-year-old man and a woman, aged 34, over claims they racially abused a shopkeeper.

It’s alleged the pair entered the Premier Off- Sales in Johnstone High Street around 3.50pm on Friday afternoon.

They became aggressive when the 55-year-old shop owner refused to serve them booze.

They face allegation­s they launched a racially aggravated verbal onslaught on the man before police arrived to arrest them.

Inspector Jim Cast from Johnstone, Renfrew and the villages community policing team, says officers will take a zero tolerance approach to reports of racism.

He said: “There is simply no place in our community for such behaviour. We simply won’t tolerate it.

“I want to ensure people who have been the victim of a crime to know that our officers will investigat­e fully and take your report seriously.

“If you witness discrimina­tion of any kind, report it.”
