Business Bricks have really done the trick for Paisley

-

Paisley First has hailed the recent Bricks in Space Lego trail as boosting business for the town.

Across the town there were 18 spaceinspired models inside businesses for people to discover.

For the duration of the summer holidays, families were invited to collect a space passport from either the Piazza, Paisley Centre or a local business and find all 18 models.

It’s the third time Paisley First, the Business Improvement District (BID), has put on a trail to encourage visitors into the town centre during the summer.

The first was the Lion trail in 2016, followed by the dinosaur Lego trail last year and Bricks in Space, which ended last Tuesday.

Natalie McShane, Paisley First manager, said: “Our businesses really support the trails. They’re all fighting with each other to get a model in their business!

“They really engage with it. Those who do get a model in their business talk to the people who come in and engage with their customers.

“We space them out so that all parts of the town get something.

“We know from the completed Golden Ticket and space passport entries where people are coming from and it’s from as far afield as Aberdeen and Edinburgh, as well as Renfrewshire. There are also a lot of people much closer in Dumbarton, Inverclyde, Ayrshire and the south west of Glasgow. We want these people as repeat visitors so we’re focusing our advertising in these areas.

“We put on the parade but it’s up to the businesses to make sure people have a good experience when they’re here.

“With a growing reputation as a trail town, the feedback was extremely positive from both businesses and families alike. We also had a great response to our Summer Golden Ticket competition once again with winners spending their vouchers in a variety of local stores including Prestige Floors and Pendulum.

RENFREWSHIRE GOES TO WORK the Piazza and Paisley Centre. Natalie thinks the fact there is no cost involved helps boost trade in the town.

She said: “What we think is because the event is free, people are more inclined to spend their money when they’re in the town on lunch, a coffee or ice cream or in shops.

“We hope they’ll become repeat customers if they have a good experience.

Paisley First is already planning next summer’s Lego trail and Natalie promises it will be a “belter”.

But coming up next for families is the Paisley First WinterFest in the town.

There will be a Paisley Penguin Parade trail with 19 rockhopper penguins and one emperor penguin built to real-life scale.

Visitors to the town will also be able to visit Santa and his reindeers and take a photo.

Both the Penguin Trail and Santa’s Sleigh will launched on St Andrew’s Day on Saturday, November 30 and will run until Saturday, January 4 2020.

 The Paisley First Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, September 2 in The Wynd Centre, School Wynd, in Paisley, at 5.30pm.

The AGM is open to all BID Members and is an opportunity to offer feedback on previous and existing projects, find out what Paisley First has planned for the remainder of the year and to put forward suggestions on how to improve Paisley town centre for both our BID Members and visitors.
