Team Todholm are Fun Run winners

- KENNETH SPEIRS

There was something for everyone at the exciting Paisley 10k and Fun Run.

And for one group of sporty pupils and staff, it meant running together as a school team.

Game youngsters and adults from Paisley’s Todholm Primary took part in the 3k race that made its way round Paisley at the weekend.

And not only was it a great way of keeping fit and having fun, but also of bringing in some money for a trip being undertaken by older pupils.

Teacher Aileen Cochrane said: “We ran with the Primary Sevens, and they were raising money fo the residential trip ro Ardmay later in the year.

“The money is still being gathered in, but we expect it will be a few hundred.

“There were also pupils running with their families and local football team.”

Running as a school is great way to keep up morale and school spirit, Mrs Cochrane added.

“It was good fun and good for the children, and it was all about health and wellbeing too,” she said.

The team from Todholm Primary, which says on its website that it aims to provide children with the highest quality educational experiences whilst ensuring they are developing into confident, responsible and resilient citizens, were among hundreds who took part in wet and windy weather in what has become a firm favourite in Paisley’s annual calendar of events

Almost 1,500 runners of all ages took part in the annual fun run after the Paisley 10k.

They took to the streets on a specially- laid out course pavements of Paisley town centre on a 3k route.

Both the Paisley 10k and Fun Run were sponsored by sports and outdoors retailer Decathlon, and this year’s official charity partner was the Armed Forces veterans’ charity Erskine, which is a firm favourite with people all over Renfrewshire.
