Thank you, Elizabeth
I was pleased to see the article in the Paisley Daily Express thanking Elizabeth Alexander from Renfrewshire Foodbank for the fantastic service she has provided to the most vulnerable people over the last four-and-a-half years.
The impact of a decade of Tory austerity and the recent disaster that is Universal Credit have seen record numbers of people across Renfrewshire need to access the foodbank.
I have witnessed firsthand the effort and dedication put in by Elizabeth and volunteers at Renfrewshire Foodbank to make the experience as dignified as possible for people.
I wish Elizabeth all the best for the future.

My husband broke the leg of his glasses.
Metal frames, in style for the past few years, seem to be more fragile.
I went to all the opticians in the town, asking about repairs.
These firms have multiple outlets and multiple personnel.
The response was polite but in the negative.
Finally, at the cross, I spied T. Baird, a local and independent optician.
My request was received positively by a very nice lady, who promised to try and find a matching leg, while I completed my messages.
On return the glasses were fixed and my husband could see again.
Thank you to T. Baird, a local and independent optician – smaller is sometimes better.
