Cops appeal for information after fast food break-ins
Three hooded youths targeted Renfrew fast food restaurants during late night crime spree.
The yobs booted their way inside Domino’s Pizza in the High Street just after midnight yesterday.
And cops believe the same mindless trio tried to bust their way in to sandwich shop Subway in Canal Street just an hour before.
Police say the alarm at Domino’s went off at around 12.10am when the young crooks kicked their way through the front door and began trying to open the till.
It’s understood they made off empty handed.
The manager arrived on the scene a short time later and alerted the police.
It also emerged that three youths also tried to break in to Subway in Canal Street at around 11pm on Monday night.
Staff at the shop arrived at work yesterday to find the front door damaged.
They were una b l e to get inside but were not for giving up as they went on to target Domino’s just around the corner.
Police are appealing for witnesses and carrying out CCTV trawls of the area in a bid to identify the suspects.
Inspector Jim Cast, from Renfrew, Johnstone and the villages community policing team, told the Express: “We believe these two break-ins are linked.
“Three hooded youths were seen in the area at around the time of the incidents and we believe them to be involved.”
He added: “I would like to urge anyone who may have seen groups of youths hanging around or acting suspiciously in and around the Renfrew town centre area to get in touch.
“Similarly, if you were driving in the area, I’d ask you to check dash cam footage to see if you captured anything which may be useful to our investigation.”
