‘Frew ‘must get back to their winning ways’

-

Thank goodness the midweek fixtures are over.

That was the battle cry of most Junior managers this week but none more so than Renfrew co- gaffer Colin Clark.

And after a couple of disappointing 1- 1 draws against Neilston Juniors and Craigmark Burntonians he hopes his side can get back to winning ways when they travel to Petershill today.

The Glasgow side appointed a new manager this week in the shape of Martin Lauchlan after club legend William Patterson quit after eight years in charge at the club.

A 1-0 home defeat to Dalry Thistle was one bad result too many.

“Petershill have been struggling of late and lost their manager at the weekend,” said Clark.

“But to be honest it’s not been a happy hunting ground for us.

“We haven’t taken a single point in our last four fixtures against them. So that needs to change.”

That aside, Clark is just happy to have been able to get his players back on the training pitch after a gruelling opening start to the season.

Frew hadn’t trained in more than four weeks and the boss believes it’s about time he got a chance to iron out his side’s recent flaws.

He added: “The game is on astro so the boys know what to expect.

“We need to get back to winning ways as we are losing pace with the teams at the top.

“We have a fair few niggles to contend with in the squad but we are happy to be having our first training session in a month this week.

“It means we can work on shape and even silly things like throw-ins which we haven’t been able to do in recent weeks.
