HEARTACHE AS PRECIOUS PET MILLIE IS SAVAGED BY DEVIL DOG SNATCHED FROM HER OWNER’S ARMS...AND MAULED TO DEATH

- DAVID CAMPBELL to death by a dangerous dog.

A much- loved family pet was ripped from her owner’s arms and mauled

Traumatised Angela Donnelly last night told how an out- of

control Staffie tore into little Millie as she carried her along a cycle path.

The ten-year-old mini Yorkshire Terrier suffered horrific injuries when the attack dog’s owner allowed it to pounce between Brookfield and Bridge of Weir on Wednesday evening.

Angela and her daughter desperately tried to wrestle Millie from the danger dog’s jaws, but were overpowered.

Police have now launched a hunt for the Staffie’s owners who left the scene without even checking on blood-soaked Millie.

Angela told the Paisley Daily Express: “I can’t sleep. I keep reliving what happened to her.

“I’ve never heard of a dog grabbing another dog from someone’s arms — it could have been a baby.

“We are traumatised by it.”

The incident unfolded when Angela, her daughter and a pal took Millie along the path on Wednesday night.

They passed a couple who appeared under the influence of booze or drugs.

They had a brown or black Staffie dog with them.

Angela added: “When we were coming back along toward Bridge of Weir, we saw the dog coming towards us off the lead.

“I picked up Millie and my daughter tried to block the dog.

“It was creeping towards me. It wasn’t aggressive or anything like that then it just jumped up on me and grabbed Millie.

“It viciously mauled her and took her towards the bushes.

“My daughter and I were trying to get her back. The dog’s owners tried but the guy was so out of it he fell over.”

When they eventually managed to get her free, Millie had suffered shocking injuries all over her body.

“She was in shock. She was shaking and covered in blood,” Angela added.

“I tried to calm her down and reassure her.”

The irresponsible owners kept walking without even checking on little Millie.

“We frantically phoned round vets to see if one was open. Love Street Vets said it could take her in.

“They tried to save her, but it was too late. Her injuries were too bad.

“We are devastated. We had her since she was just away from her mother.

“Our other dog Sam is devastated as well. Millie was the boss, she was a real character.

“We hope the police find the owners as we don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

The danger dog owners are described as a man in his 30s, with a scar on his face, around 5ft 4ins tall, of medium build and wearing a royal blue zipper.

The woman with him was in her late 20s, 5ft 8ins tall, with long brown hair, of thin build, wearing blue leggings, a grey zipper and a black jacket.

Inspector Jim Cast, from Johnstone, Renfrew and the villages community policing team, has appealed for information to identify the owners.

He said: “This was an incredibly traumatic experience for the dog owner.

“We are very keen to trace the dangerous dog involved in this incident and its owners.

“This horrific incident happened around 6.30pm on Wednesday on the cycle path between Brookfield and Bridge of Weir.

“If anyone saw a man and woman with a brown or black Staffie type dog then we would like to hear from you.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
