Pervert back in court for hiding his internet history from officer

Creep is back on Sex Offenders’Register for breach

- RON MOORE

A pervert has been placed back on the Sex Offenders’ Register after he was caught hiding his internet history.

Damian Anderson, 25, was convicted of collecting photographs and videos of youngsters being sexually abused on his mobile phone.

The internet creep was placed on the register for three years, banned from approaching anyone under the age of 18 unless he is supervised and prohibited from using any device capable of going online, unless he is applying for a job.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard how Anderson admitted he broke strict conditions of his supervision by the social work department in July.

His supervising officer had gone to his address, where Anderson was attempting to hide his internet activity — a clear breach of the careful monitoring of sex offenders.

Anderson, of McDonald Place, Barrhead, was reported to the authorities and appeared in the dock before Sheriff Colin Pettigrew and pleaded guilty to breaching terms of an order handed to him in November 2016.

Defence agent Nadine Dormer said: “He is present in relation to a breach of the order and it is accepted.

“He is 25 and has been on the order for three years.

“He has suffered as a result of the conviction and attempted to harm himself.

“He spends time in solitary at his flat and I would ask the court to consider dealing with this matter by way of unpaid work, supervision and compliance with the original order.

“This was a serious indictment matter and he understands it will cause concern.”

Anderson originally pleaded guilty to charges that between September 1, 2015, and April 14, 2016, he did permit to be taken, or make indecent photographs, or possess indecent images of children.

Forensic analysis of his handset by the Cyber Crime Unit found 47 videos; 28 of which were Category A, the worst level of depravity; 18 at Category B and 1 at Category C.

All of the files had been held on his Dropbox application — a programme that stores files downloaded from the internet.

The court heard the videos showed children being sexually abused ranging from between nine months and 15 years old.

Sheriff Pettigrew, who presided over the original case, tore a strip off Anderson for “attempting to conceal the use of the device”.

He said: “I am very concerned at your conduct and behaviour.

“The order was imposed in the public interest, especially the probation, but you have failed to comply.

“It is an admitted breach of the order imposed in November 2016, your third conviction and second for failure to adhere to the registration process.”

He placed Anderson back on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 18 months and handed him 300 hours of unpaid work, the maximum amount.
