Alert after crooks target homes
Cops in Renfrew are warning homeowners to be vigilant after a spate of break- in attempts.
Police are investigating after two properties were targeted by crooks on Monday afternoon.
The first incident happened in Fulbar Road around 1.45pm when a would-bethief smashed a back door window with a rock inside a bag.
Thankfully he didn’t get inside.
A short time later, around 3.20pm, a lout tried to kick a door down in Kirklandneuk Crescent. Again, he failed to get inside and made off.
Police say they are not ruling out the possibility that the same person could be responsible for the incidents but insist they are keeping an open mind.
Inspector Jim Cast, from Johnstone, Renfrew and the villages community policing team, urged people to be on guard and report anything suspicious.
He told the Paisley Daily Express: “We have had a number of incidents in Renfrew recently where someone has tried to gain entry to a property.
“I would urge anyone with information on these incidents or who may have witnessed them to come forward.”
He added: “I would also ask people in the area to be vigilant and report things which don’t seem right.
“If you see someone who looks out of place or just have a feeling something isn’t right, please let us know so we can check it out.
“It may be nothing but it is better we know.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
