Rob Roy hike is nothing compared to battling cancer
Workers at a Paisley company pulled on their boots and took part in a major fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The team at D2 Corporate Solutions did the Rob Roy Mighty Hike, a 26-mile walk that aimed to bring in £5k for the charity.
Five staff from the company, which is based in the Paisley’s Westpoint Business Park, joined hundreds of other fundraisers as they hiked from Callander to Killin, along the Rob Roy Way through the wild and beautiful Trossachs National Park.
Hours of training was put into the event, including 17-mile walks, with the hike just one of the ways D2 Corporate Solutions are raising money for Macmillan.
Members of staff recently took part in the world’s fastest zipline and next month they will be holding a Macmillan coffee morning with staff selling their home baking to raise more funds for their chosen charity.
A spokesman for D2 said: “We’re delighted to have taken part in the Rob Roy Mighty Hike. We all did a lot of training and enjoyed the challenges the walk entailed.
“Macmillan Cancer Support is a fantastic charity who do great work. We chose Macmillan as several people within the company have been affected by cancer in one way or another, whether it’s a family member or friend.
“One member of the hiking team was personally affected last year and is thankfully on the road to recovery.”
D2 Corporate Solutions has been running since 2002 and is an independent insurance broker which provides insurance solutions tailored to the needs of each individual client, bosses say.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.
It also helps people with the impact social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have.
