Gleniffer High pupils are top of the class
Pupils are taking the lead at a Paisley secondary school.
Gleniffer High School has appointed Kirsty Gillies as head girl and Nathan Lawson as head boy.
The two sixth year pupils were named after a ballot of fellow pupils and an interview with senior staff.
Joining them at the top table are two depute head girls Ruth Crockett and Rosie McCafferty, and two depute head boys James Connery and Stan Mudzamiri.
Kirsty , 17, said:“I am really happy to have been appointed head girl for the session.
“It was a really intensive selection process and I was amazed to be told that I had been successful.
“Being head girl will give me the opportunity to repay the school for the many chances afforded to me in the five years that I have been at Gleniffer High.
“I look forwarded to working alongside the badgeholders as we plan a programme to develop strong bonds amongst pupils, staff and the wider community.”
Nathan Lawson, also 17, said he was really excited about plans for this session.
He told us:“We will be holding many charitable fundraisers and community programmes including raising money for Children in Need and the Renfrewshire Foodbank.
“We will also organise many social events such as the Christmas dance and the school leavers dance.
“On a personal level, I am very much looking forward to working more closely with the senior staff in the school and to be given more responsibilities.
“This will allow me to develop my personal skills and qualities which I can take forward in my future studies and career.”
Headteacher Lisa Chalmers was delighted to announce the new badgeholders for this session.
She said:“I am very much looking forward to working with them. The pupils took part in a rigorous selection process with an application, voting and interview section.
“All the young people who applied were an absolute credit to themselves and we are so grateful for their interest.”
