Mum lobbed cocaine out of the window in front of cops during drugs bust at her home

- RON MOORE

A shady mum chucked her stash of drugs out the window in a bid to foil her arrest.

Cheryl McCurdy, 37, pulled a wrap of Class-A cocaine from her trouser pocket and lobbed it out of the room in clear view of cops.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard McCurdy, who has previous convictions for drugs offences, sparked a frantic search of her front garden until the wrap was found by police.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Laura Wilcox said: “On the day in question officers attended the flat in Paisley at around 10.15am in possession of a warrant.

“Entry was forced to the property and on entering McCurdy was observed by the officers to remove a small white package from her right hand trouser pocket.

“She ran towards the living room window and tossed it into the front garden.

“Officers were tasked to recover the white package, in this case a wrap of a rock like substance.

“She was informed if the white substance tested positive for a controlled drug, that a report to the procurator fiscal would be sent.”

This week McCurdy of Blackhall Street, Paisley, appeared in the dock where she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of controlled drugs, namely Class- A substance cocaine on April 2.

The wrap which weighed 1.3 grams was valued at £60.

Defence agent Bob Mitchell said his client was a single parent who suffered from a string health problems which have been made worse by her addiction to drugs.

He urged the court to show mercy to her as she had admitted responsibility for the offence and was willing to pay a fine.

He said: “She is a single parent who has suffered long term health problems as a result of her addiction to drugs.

“She has recently been in hospital with neurological problems and has experienced psychological difficulties.

“She very much regrets the matter and would be willing to pay a monetary penalty.”

Sheriff Tom McCartney tore a strip of McCurdy, telling her: “It is serious matter, possession of a Class-A drug.

“You have three previous involving the Misuse of Drugs Act , even though these convictions are of some age.

“I will deal with this by the imposition of a fine because of your plea of guilty at the earliest opportunity.”

He handed her £ 350 fine reduced from £500 because of her early admission of guilt.
