A terrified Pa i s l ey homeowner woke in the middle of the night to find a house raider creeping through his home.

The 69- year- old was shocked when he heard a door opening at his Love Street house in the early hours of yesterday morning.

When he went to investigate he spotted the would-be-thief crossing his hallway.

The man and his wife alerted the police as the crook escaped through a window around 2.45am.

The suspect is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, slim build, around 5ft 11ins tall, short brown hair and was wearing dark trousers.

Cops rushed to the area in a bid to snare the yob.

The dog unit was also drafted in but the home raider got away.

Now officers are appealing for information to help identify the man.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, from Paisley’s community policing team, said: “This was a frightening experience for the homeowner who woke to find a stranger in his house.

“Thankfully, he was unhurt during the incident, however he has been left shaken.

“We are now appealing to anyone who may have saw or heard anything suspicious in the Love Street area of Paisley in the early hours of Monday morning.

“If you have any information in relation to this incident then we would like to hear from you.”
