LET’S PROVE WE’RE BETTER

Midfielder Flynn throws down the gauntlet to teammates

Midfielder Ryan Flynn believes St Mirren have come on leaps and bounds from last season.

Despite Saints having picked up just three points so far, the 31-yearold believes they are more robust with a real style to their play.

The former Falkirk and Sheffield United favourite has started every league game this season and despite the disappointment of a 2- 1 loss at Livingston last time out, he envisages a rosey future for Jim Goodwin’s Buddies.

Flynn said: “There is a good feel about the place.

“We’ve only got three points on the board and we’d have been looking for more considering the performances we are putting in.

“Livingston was a hard one to take. I think overall there wasn’t much in the game, perhaps, other than poor goals from our side to give away.

“I still think we should have got something out the game as we created good chances. However, it’s not all doom and gloom.”

The midfielder added: “It’s been great. We’ve stuck to our game plans and there have been spells where we’ve played really good football.

“There are a lot of new players as everyone knows but we are getting there. The style of football we are playing is good.”

Flynn twice won the FA Youth Cup as a youngster at Liverpool and while a trip to Dingwall doesn’t sound as glamorous, he can’t wait to get stuck into Ross County on Saturday.

“The next game is coming up and we will work hard and make sure we are ready to go,” he said.

“It’s going to be a tough game. I’m sure they will be ready for it just as much as us.

“It’s going to be a hard season as there has been an improvement at the bottom end of the league.

“But we have definitely improved.”
