Stalker threatened sex tape revenge on his ex-girlfriend
A stalker threatened to release a sex tape of his ex- girlfriend after she dumped him.
Vengeful Alistair Ritchie, 35, mounted a campaign of harassment against the young Renfrewshire woman, who cannot be identified, including spreading claims among her family and friends that she was abusing drugs.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard the garage worker bombarded her with phone calls, voicemails and text messages begging her to take him back after she ended their relationship.
He also repeatedly sent her messages via WhatsApp and Facebook, insisting she go back to him, even threatening to turn up at her work after a blitz of emails to her work account.
Ritchie also went to the woman’s mother’s door with a bouquet of flowers and a Christmas card, pleading to see his ex, leaving the victim’s family frightened by his actions.
Prosecutor Frankie Morgan said: “Ritchie and the complainer had been in a relationship. They cohabited for a significant period of time during this period.
“However, the complainer ended the relationship.
“In the period leading up to Christmas, Ritchie starting contacting the complainer, phoning, leaving voicemails and text messages.
“These messages then changed to become aggressive.
“She continued telling him to stop contacting her, but he continued to do so.”
The court heard the victim’s mum was at home when Ritchie turned up with flowers and a card looking for his ex, where he “appeared upset and emotional”, but the mum told him to leave.
The prosecutor added: “The complainer told him not to contact her mother, but he continued to phone and leave messages.
“On January 5, he phoned the complainer’s mother and made reference to a sex tape of the complainer having been made by him.
“He referred to her as an ‘evil c***’ and ‘nasty whore’ and a ‘liar’.
“He also claimed she was a drug user and that she should be subject to drug tests.”
The family reported him to police.
Ritchie appeared in the dock, where he pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in a course of conduct which left his ex-partner frightened by repeatedly calling, sending messages and making threatening remarks.
Defence agent Paul Lynch said his client had admitted responsibility for the offences and has had no further contact with his ex-girlfriend since his arrest.
He said: “He has been on special conditions of bail and has tempered with these conditions. Various disposals are open to the court, including a restriction of liberty order.”
Sheriff Lyndsey Kooner told him: “This behaviour is entirely unacceptable and the catalogue of conduct is utterly unacceptable.”
She handed Ritchie, of Mainholm Avenue, Ayr, a restriction of liberty order lasting six weeks, where he will be on tag and remain indoors between 7pm and 7am.
She imposed 12 months of mandatory supervision on him by the local authority and placed him under a Non- Harrassment Order, preventing any contact with the victim or her mother, for six months.
