Lout who battered ex-partner blasted for dodging unpaid work
A yob who whipped his ex- girlfriend with a towel during a violent rampage has been slated by a sheriff.
Scott McKinney, 31, attacked terrified Danielle Leitch after a boozy day out at the football watching Rangers at Hampden.
McKinney went back to her property in Paisley’s Gallowhill blazing drunk and assaulted her when she told him he wasn’t welcome to stay overnight at her home.
McKinney had previously pleaded guilty at the town’s sheriff court to assaulting his ex by seizing hold of her and pushing her on the body causing her to fall and dislodge a stair gate, and whipping her on the body with a towel to her injury.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by swearing and refusing to leave her property, wilfully and recklessly damaging her property and to resisting, obstructing and hindering police officers.
He narrowly avoided jail when he was sentenced to supervision by the local authority for one year and handed 187 hours of unpaid work to be completed within nine months.
McKinney, formerly of Hollows Avenue, Foxbar, appeared in court this week for a review of his conduct, where it emerged he was falling behind in his unpaid work.
Defence agent Paul Coyle said his client had complied with the supervision order, but had received two formal warnings.
He said: “Both of these stem from his failure to communicate with his supervising officer.
“He was unavailable that morning due to a work commitment. The other occasion involved his former partner who had childcare problems.
“He has had difficulties in doing the hours and would require an extension of time for completion of the hours.”
The lawyer explained that jobless McKinney remains in good terms with his ex-girlfriend.
Sheriff Lindsay Kooner ordered McKinney to raise his game.
She said: “Get your head down and get on with this unpaid work.
“Finish it quickly as you can and pay close attention to the requirements of the order.
“This was imposed as a direct alternative to custody.”
McKinney was handed another three months to complete the punishment and he will appear at court on December 5 to update the sheriff.
