Firm’s praise for positive jobs fair
Pa i s l e y c o n s t r uction firm CGC has praised the job creation drive in Renfrewshire.
City Gate Construction attended a busy jobs fair run by Invest in Renfrewshire at Paisley’s Lagoon Leisure Centre.
The event featured a range of large and small employers.
Invest in Renfrewshire is Renfrewshire Council’s programme to boost the local economy and tackle unemployment.
Dave Palmer, commercial director of CGC, said: “Invest in Renfrewshire is doing a great job. The event showed it is working at grass roots level to fight unemployment and work with others to enhance job opportunities for Renfrewshire people.
“The real benefit of a jobs fair is that people can speak to employers face to face.
“CGC has a 100 per cent track record of attending Invest in Renfrewshire and looks forward to maintaining that support as a major Renfrewshire employer.
“We were able to speak to jobseekers and in many cases potential apprentices as we look forward to our next intake of apprentices in May 2020.
“Few things are more important that giving young women and young men a helping hand onto the jobs ladder and providing them with solid training on which they can build their careers.”
CGC said Invest in Renfrewshire had become an essential part of the local economy because it was leading the way in helping local employers source new staff and working hard to reduce the unemployment rate locally.
Dave added: “Invest in Renfrewshire has been particularly successful in reducing youth unemployment and that doesn’t come without a clear vision and sheer hard work.
“We’re pleased to be playing our part in supporting that effort.”
In recent years CGC has expanded from its base in MacDowall Street, Paisley.
Last month the firm bought the closure- theatened shopfitting firm Dimension at Linwood, saving more than 40 jobs.
