Sheriff’s stern words for mum who screamed sex abuse claims in street
You cannot behave in this way, pregnant woman told
A mum-of-six who yelled sex abuse claims outside a man’s house has been shown mercy by a sheriff.
Margaret Rooney, 36, sparked mayhem at a property in Paisley’s Maxwellton Road, when she began shouting offensive remarks at the householder, who reported the disturbance to police.
Rooney was heard shouting “Come outside, you coward”, “F****** beast”, “Rapist” and “F****** b******.”
Paisley Sheriff Court heard that when cops turned up to the rammy, Ms Rooney was still in full flow shouting obscenities in the street.
Ms Rooney, of Wilson Avenue, Linwood, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner during the incident on February 21.
Sheriff Lyndsey Kooner had deferred sentence on Rooney for six months for her to be of good behaviour.
Rooney — heavily pregnant with her seventh child — appeared in the dock to discover her fate.
Her defence agent said Ms Rooney had kept her nose clean since her last appearance in court and urged the sheriff to reward her for keeping out of trouble.
He said: “Sentence had been deferred for good behaviour and I understand she has been of good behaviour.
“This is a significant change from reports that were prepared on the last occasion.”
Sheriff Kooner agreed with the lawyer, and admonished Rooney with a warning ringing in her ears.
She said: “You cannot behave in this way and conduct yourself in the manner you did on February 21.
“You have taken the opportunity to conduct yourself properly and I will admonish you in respect of this matter.”
