Gaffer wants to close the gap in promotion battle
Renfrew co- manager Colin Clark hopes his side can see off Whitlett’s Victoria tomorrow to keep their dream of returning to the top flight alive.
Frew were relegated from the West Region Premiership last season after finishing third bottom.
Despite that difficult campaign the New Western Park outfit are aiming bounce straight back up.
Two wins in two games has seen them close in on the promotion places, but Clark is refusing to get carried away.
He said: “We had a taster of it last year and we want to be back at the right end of the table challenging to get back up there. We’ve closed the gap a bit but we need to keep picking up results.
“It’s only September so the table doesn’t mean much yet but another home game gives us a chance to put a bit more pressure on those above us.”
Clark was talking after his side beat fellow promotion hopefuls Cumbernauld United with a last minute winner last Saturday.
Kieran Maxwell was the injury time hero as his curling free kick from 20 yards cannoned off the underside of the crossbar to bag all three points and give a massive boost to the club.
The win leaves Frew in fourth spot – just one position off the playoff places.
They head a queue of three Renfrewshire sides all with eyes on the Premiership.
A win over Vics would make it three victories on the bounce with the added bonus of league leaders Darvel Juniors having no league fixture this weekend.
Three points for Frew would see them move within two points of their Ayrshire rivals.
