Meeting told that police are probing 14 crime allegations in Ralston

-

The first meeting of Ralston Community Council of the new session heard that since its last gathering 14 alleged crimes in the area had been reported to police.

These were a mixtures of alleged theft, drug misuse, fraud and vandalism.

A community council member asked police in attendance about the legality of parked vehicles with an engine running and no driver in the vehicle.

The police said they would double check this with local bylaws and report back next month.

The community council secretary advised that all relevant communication received since the last meeting had been circulated.

The secretary also thanked a fellow member for his help in creating generic email addresses for office bearers. The secretary was asked if community council members’ names could not be shown in any emails circulated to all and the secretary agreed to look at this.

The meeting was told by the treasurer that there was a current balance of £2,168.68 and expenditure since the last meeting was £97.58.

It was advised that a process is underway to change the account to allow online banking.

The chairman confirmed the council has exceeded the minimum amount of members required to continue.

The minimum is seven, and 11 nomination forms had been received.

He also advised four current members have decided not to continue and he thanked them for all their work and contributions in the past.

The AGM will be held on Thursday, October 10, and will be presided over by a Renfrewshire Council official who will also take and produce the minutes.

The official will then leave and a normal monthly meeting will follow. The AGM will start at 7.30pm in Ralston Community Centre, Allanton Avenue.
