Comment about my weight was horrible but it spurred me into taking action

Inspirational Kerith loses more than six stones and wins group’s Woman of theYear

A Paisley woman shed a staggering 6.5 stones after reading cruel comments about her weight.

Kerith Easdon weighed just under 17 stones when she decided to take action and get healthy.

The 31-year-old was becoming concerned about her health due to having constant migraines – and doctors repeatedly told her losing weight would help with the severe headaches.

But it was after reading a jibe about her weight in a group text that she was finally pushed to try and shed some pounds.

Now Kerith, who lives in Seedhill, weighs 10st and has dropped five dress sizes from a 20 to a 10.

She told the Express: “I suffered from really bad migraines and one of the things I was told, time and time again, was that losing weight would help lower my blood pressure and reduce the migraines.

“I got so sick of hearing it that I finally decided I needed to do something.

“Around the same time, someone made a cruel comment about my weight in a group chat they didn’t know I was in .

“That really made me feel rubbish.

“So I was spurred on to finally lose the weight.”

After a few years of trying to lose weight on her own, Kerith joined Slimming World in January 2017 – a move she says has changed her life.

Her impressive weight loss saw her being crowned the Woman of the Year at her group in Wallneuk Church hall.

She then went on to represent the group at the Woman of the Year regional finals in Whitburn, along with 37 other ladies, who together had lost a staggering 268 stones.

Kerith added: “It was just so lovely to be given that award in my group.

“It was so surprising to know that people look at you in a way that you maybe don’t see yourself.

“When I first joined the group I never dreamt that I would be in the position I am now.

“Losing weight has made such a big difference to my life.

“My health has improved, and I have definitely noticed a difference in my migraines.

“I have more energy, I’m happier and I feel more comfortable in my own skin.

“I feel like a different woman to the one who walked into Slimming World all those months ago and winning Woman of the Year is a real honour because there are so many amazing women in our group.”

Consultant Sarah Mcelroy, who runs the Wallneuk group, added: “I’m so proud of Kerith. She’s a fantastic ambassador for Slimming World and what she’s achieved is nothing short of incredible.

“She’s a huge inspiration to everyone in our group and I hope she inspires other women – and men – in Paisley to change their lives in the same way.”
