Durmus was the next to let loose from long distance, with his powerful effort deflected away for a corner.

With 30 minutes to go, Durmus was replaced by McAllister, with Accies also making a change with William Collar standing down for Ronan Hughes.

A quick free- kick from St Mirren saw a cross missed by the Hamilton defence, but Morias wasn’t alert enough to smash the loose ball home.

Magennis then hit a wild shot into the away end with the Buddies still struggling to break Accies’ stubborn defence.

His next effort, after good work from McAllister, almost broke the deadlock, Skipping inside his man, his low right foot strike whistled inches wide of the post.

Goodwin made another tactical change straight after, with Andreu sacrificed for striker Danny Mullen.

McAllister then had a near-post effort saved before Accies broke up the other end, with Broadfoot having to be alert to stop a dangerous cross.

David Moyo came on for Ogkmpoe, with Hamilton looking more and more likely to escape with a point.

Goodwin threw the tactical dice one last time with Obika coming on for Morias.

The visitors almost opened the scoring at just over ten minutes to go, with Blair Alston finding space in the middle of the park. He unleashed a power long-range strike that Hladky palmed to safety.

A route one ball then released Obika in behind the Hamilton defence. He beat one defender, but couldn’t break away from the other as they cleared the danger.

McAllister then picked up a dubious booking for allegedly leaving his foot in on Scott McMann.

Gogic gave away a free- kick in a promising position on the edge of the box as the Saints tried to huff and puff their way to a winning goal. McAllister fired it into the box, but no-one was there to tap home and Fon-Williams gratefully gathered the ball.

With just minutes to go, Saints’ afternoon was summed up when a corner was fired goalwards by Foley from close range. It crashed into his own man Obika, who was standing offside, with the danger passing once again for the visitors.

With five minutes added on, Saints had one last push for a winner. McGinn had a shot blocked from a good cross, but it wasn’t to be as the hosts were forced to settle for a point.
