Emergency services rush to fire at school
A Paisley school for vulnerable kids was evacuated following an electrical fire in the building.
Emergency services rushed to Kibble, in Goudie Street, on Tuesday following reports of smoke coming from a building on the campus.
Seven fire engines and an aerial unit were sent to the scene around 5.15pm where they extinguished a small electrical fire within an air ventilation system.
It is understood the fuse box was smouldering, prompting staff to raise the alarm.
The building was evacuated while Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene.
No one was injured as a result of the fire and firefighters left the scene once safety checks were made.
A fire service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 5.14pm on Tuesday, October 8 to reports of a fire within the roof space of a building at Kibble School on Goudie Street, Paisley.
“Operations Control mobilised seven fire appliances and an aerial unit to the scene, where crews extinguished the fire.
“Firefighters left the scene after ensuring the area had been made safe.
“There were no casualties.”
Jim Gillespie, chief executive of Kibble, confirmed that a smoke alert had caused the emergency.
He said: “Fire services were called to Kibble after smoke was detected in one of the campus buildings.
“The facility was safely evacuated while fire crews identified the source of the issue - caused by smoke emitting from an electrical ventilation unit.
“No one was hurt and the building was declared safe to re-enter a short time later.”
