A return to league action saw Bishopton make the long trip down to Moffat to take on the Rams looking to bounce back from the defeat against Birkmyre in the Bowl.

Bish started quickly and Catto drifted past the defence to claim an early score.

Leslie slotted over for the extras.

Moffat were soon on the fight back, gaining a penalty and choosing to kick from the 10-metre line. While the kick missed, they gained the ball back quickly and came straight back on the attack and were able to find the overlap on the wing.

A speedy centre was able to get away from the Bish defence and work round to get the score on the right and then powered the ball back to the left to McGowan. He was able to pop the ball to Robertson who found his first senior try on his first full start for the club, dancing his way past the remaining defenders to place the ball down. Leslie’s conversion drifted wide of the mark.

Right on the stroke of half time Moffat gained a penalty on the 10-metre line and the kick at goal split the uprights bringing the half-time score to 15–19 in favour of the Bish.

The hosts came out swinging in the second half as they managed to plough their way up the wing through the forwards and grab an unconverted try.

They then gained a penalty when Bish’s scrum after the restart was pinged and they were able to take another shot at goal. The kick was good and Moffat found themselves ahead 23–19.

The Bishopton boys were quick to hit back though as McGowan once again took the game by the scruff of the neck and was stopped just short of the line, allowing Haldane to pick and go from the resulting ruck and push his way over the line.

Catto converted the extras and edged Bish back in front.

There was then a late hit on one of the Bishopton players and the visitors opted to take the points on this occasion and Catto slotted them to extend the lead to 23–29.

Haldane then capitalised on a charged down clearance to scoop the ball up and dash to the line to secure his second try of the day. Catto landed the conversion sealing Bishopton a 23–36 win.

The Crabbie’s Man of the Match went to Kyle Haldane for his defensive efforts and try-scoring, with the Glen Lusset Glue Player going to Matthew Wallace.

Next week attention turns back to Birkmyre as Bishopton take them on in the league at home.
