Nicola’s made up with her success
An award-winning makeup artist is in line for another accolade after securing a place in the finals of a prestigious competition.
Nicola Keegan, from Paisley, has already celebrated success this year after being named Makeup Artist of the Year at the Scottish Beauty Industry Awards 2019.
Talented Nicola, 35, who is known as Nik Makeup Artist, is now in line for the Freelance Makeup Specialist of the Year trophy at the ninth Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.
Beating off tough competition from across Scotland, Nicola was the only professional in Renfrewshire to be nominated in the category.
She will attend a glamorous event at Doubletree Hilton Hotel, in Glasgow, in December to see if she will take home the honour.
Speaking about the nomination, she said: “I am truly honoured and proud to be a finalist in such a huge awards ceremony.
“This has always been a dream of mine and I feel like I have already won by making it to the finals.”
Her award nomination is not the only success Nicola is celebrating this year.
The creative mum – who has a fouryear-old son, James – had her work printed in fashion magazine Gilded last month.
Having already had her work featured in international publications last year when art book Strìõsherra Fables featured her as an artist, Nicola said it was surreal to see her name in print yet again.
She added: “A phenomenal eightpage spread of my recent creative work was printed, which was a photo shoot titled The Sun, Moon and Stars that Align.
“I was the shoot creative director, I made all the headpieces, cast the models and team and designed the hair and makeup.
“The story behind the shoot was to showcase how wonderful our universe works individually and also how these forces work together to keep order in the chaos.
“To see my work in print in this magazine that I have looked up to for so long was so surreal.
“When I was a student I used to buy this magazine and wonder how it would feel to be an artist who’s work was in it.
“I can hardly believe the day has come, and I hopefully get to inspire other artists and creatives that no goal is ever out of reach.”
