Let’s show Boris that enough is enough

-

This week, we are gearing up for what is set to be a monumental independence rally.

We will meet in Glasgow’s George Square at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Now, more than ever, it is clear that the best future for Scotland is as an independent nation and this is the prime opportunity to show how strong support for Scottish independence is.

This rally is a great opportunity for people across Scotland to come together and I would encourage all independence supporters across my constituency to attend and show your support.

We need to continue to send a strong message to Westminster that the people of Scotland want change and that change should come in the form of independence.

I have always believed in Scotland and our immense potential, but now even more people share the view that the UK is broken, and independence is the way forward.

We have to continue to build on that momentum.

Our job is not done and, while we are getting closer, we need to make our voices heard and demand that Westminster stops trying to block the right to choose our own future.

Saturday is a perfect opportunity to do that.

Independence means getting a government that people in Scotland voted for and that will act in our interests.

The SNP has proven time and time again that the people of Scotland are our number one priority.

We have continued to focus on and improve areas such as education, childcare and health, showing not only the divergence from Westminster policy, but proof that, under any circumstances, the SNP Scottish Government will continue to focus on and enact policies that improve the lives of people in Renfrewshire.

That stands in stark contrast to recent experiences in Westminster, which is both incapable and unwilling to act with those interests in mind.

Following EU leaders’ approval for a three-month extension to the Brexit process, to ensure that Halloween does not bring us a nodeal Brexit, at the time of writing it now looks like we are almost certainly headed for another general election.

The SNP Scottish Government already has a clear mandate from the people of Scotland – to give them a choice of a better future with independence, unlike Boris Johnson, a Prime Minister who Scotland didn’t elect and that has shown nothing but contempt for the people of Scotland.

I am, therefore, confident that the SNP will return another majority and that mandate will continue.

We have been completely ignored by Westminster throughout the Brexit process, but we have had enough of being told what to do.

It is time for the people of Scotland to have a choice - and I believe we will vote Yes to a future as an independent country.

Please join us on Saturday and show your support.
