Awaydays misery for Burgh boss

-

Johnstone Burgh boss Jamie McKim is“gobsmacked”his side will face their final five games of the campaign away from Keanie Park.

Burgh have been hammered with postponements this season, meaning they will face a frantic end to the season to get all their games completed by early May.

And while McKim knew his side would be facing an unenviable three games a week, he is hugely disappointed his team will have to play their crucial last five matches away from home.

He told Express Sport:“The fixtures to the end of the season were released this week and we were expecting to be playing a lot of Wednesdays to get all the fixtures played.

“But I was very disappointed to see we have our last five games all away from home. I was gobsmacked to be honest.

“I’ve never seen anything like it at any level of football. It’s a massive disadvantange because it’s always more difficult away from home.

“I’ve asked if there’s anything that can be done about it because it’s unfair. We’ve still got to play Lugar Boswell and Muirkirk twice before the end of the season, so those games could be reversed to break it up more.”

After their second postponement in as many weeks, Burgh will be hoping to get back to matters on the pitch when they travel to take on Vale of Clyde today.

He hopes his team can continue to show their professionalism to ensure they don’t encounter any slip ups in Glasgow’s east end.

McKim added:“It’s difficult for the boys because we keep preparing for games properly but they then don’t go ahead.

“With the weather being how it has been this week I’d say we’re hopeful at best the game is on.

“You have to keep preparing professionally because if you ever let the standards slip thinking a game is going to get cancelled that will be the one that goes ahead.

“You have to avoid being caught out by that so we’ll be right up for it until we hear otherwise. They’re a good side but their main threat Nicky Fraser got injured last weekend so hopefully they’ll be without him.”
