Care bosses salute Erskine Park for its high standards

-

Veterans charity Erskine is celebrating a hat-trick of top awards from care bosses.

The Erskine Park Home in Bishopton passed with flying colours following a detailed audit by the Care Inspectorate which confirmed the“charity delivers an excellent standard of care and support to those in its care.”

The final report revealed that the home had received the highest possible marks: Grade 6 – excellent in both categories. It stated:“These high awards are indicative of the outstanding and sector-leading care delivered by Erskine, on a daily basis to its elderly, disabled and sometimes frail residents – many of whom are also living with dementia.”

The inspectors added they were impressed by the “individual leadership and confidence of a very high level,” and residents were“supported to build their confidence and have ambitions and dreams.’”

The charity was also praised for its excellent use of technology based systems to chart and promote resident health, wellbeing and medicine administration.

Erskine director of care Derek Barron said:“It was a privilege to sit in the on feedback from the Care Inspectorate reporting on their unannounced inspection of Erskine Park Home where we were awarded grades of 6 – excellent/sector leading – in the two key questions of the inspection.

“These grades are the result of dedicated, person-focused care being delivered daily to our residents, who are all living with dementia.

“In relation to one particular care plan, the interventions planned and carried out to support and care for a resident the inspector said this is gold standard. It could not have been better. I’d like to congratulate all the staff at Erskine Park, in every role that makes the home the special place that it is.”

Erskine chief executive Ian Cumming added:“These grades truly underline Erskine’s sector-leading role as an iconic Scottish charity.

“We are all immensely proud of what we have achieved as a team. However, we must also thank our army of donors and volunteers, who are a vital part of Team Erskine.

“Without them, we simply would not be in this privileged position. They help fund and deliver the outstanding clinical expertise and technology, enhanced staffing ratios and recreational activities, which make such a difference to the wellbeing of our residents.”
