Elizabeth tip top on TikTok

Funny home videos net more than 600,000 hits

- CARLA TALBOT

A mum who signed up to video sharing app TikTok to have fun with her daughter during lockdown has become such an online hit she is recognised in the street.

Elizabeth Callery, 37, decided to make some funny videos with her teenage daughter Abigail, 13, while they stay inside their Johnstone home during the pandemic.

But little did she know that her comical videos – which feature her falling up the stairs and belting out Dolly Parton – would be viewed almost 600,000 times.

Her account has become so popular in the community – as well as worldwide – that she is now being recognised in the street.

Hundreds of people have also sent her messages of support on the app.

Elizabeth, who lives in Burns Drive, was left staggered when she logged back on to the app after posting her first video to discover her it had been viewed 60,000 times.

She said: “I cannot believe how many people have watched the videos.

“Abigail is raging that her mum is TikTok famous.

“She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw how many followers I was getting.

“I started off with 18,000 and then it went up to 26,000.

“It’s hilarious the reaction the videos are getting.

“It was just something for us to do together since we are having to stay home and I got the shock of my life when I ended up with so many followers.

“The first video is just me trying to dance up the stairs and I fall.

“It has been a really good laugh.” The mum- and- daughter duo are proving to be a great comic pairing – with their videos earning Elizabeth 28,000 followers on the app.

Abigail has also become Elizabeth’s video ‘editor’ by providing her mum with ideas, and has even featured in some of the popular skits.

Elizabeth, who shares her home with her husband Craig, 29, and their fivemonth-old daughter Rowan, added: “I’m just loving having a laugh with Abigail about it.

“It has been great fun making the videos and it’s going to be something really nice for us to look back on.

“We would never have done this if life was carrying on as normal.

“It’s brilliant to see the videos taking off the way they have – although it is very strange.

“I was out the other day for a walk and someone said to me ‘ You’re that woman that’s on TikTok’.

“I can’t believe people are starting to recognise me.

“It’s all a bit of fun and I’m glad I’m able to enjoy it with my daughter.”
