WAITING GAME FOR SEASON TICKETS
Book sales on hold due to league’s uncertain future
Uncertainty over the current Premiership season has forced St Mirren to suspend season ticket sales.
The club announced it would hold off on selling season books until the beginning of next month when it is hoped there will be more clarity from the SPFL over the future of the game.
Selling tickets also presents significant logistical challenges during lockdown and the club said it is working on a plan to create a safe way for fans to buy briefs.
A St Mirren spokesman said: “Given the uncertainty of the situation regarding the leagues being determined as they stand, and the potential for the decision on the Premiership not being resolved until the end of April, we have decided to hold off selling season tickets until the beginning of May.
“There are also obvious logistical issues that would be created by trying to sell tickets during the lockdown and the additional time will give us more time to consider a safe plan with more consideration of the current environment.”
The vote on how resolve the future of Scottish football was mired in controversy.
However, the SPFL has now declared Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers champions of their respective leagues - after Dundee belatedly backed plans to end the season.
A decision on remaining Premiership fixtures will be taken at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, St Mirren has announced a two-year sponsorship extension with Ultimate Home Solutions Ltd as its official social media sponsor.
The deal will see joint branding on the club’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts for the next two seasons.
Colin Pass, managing director of Ultimate Home Solutions Ltd, said: “We are a local business and feel this is a great opportunity for us not only to promote our own business, but also to continue to support the club financially.”
St Mirren commercial manager, Campbell Kennedy said: “I would like to thank Ultimate Home Solutions Ltd for its continued support and committing to the club during these uncertain times.
“Social media is a huge marketing tool for the football club and businesses alike and we look forward to a successful partnership.”
