Quarriers role was just the job for Tracy
Buddies who are cared for by Quarriers will continue to receive the support they rely on throughout the current crisis as the organisation takes on more staff.
The Bridge of Weir social care charity launched a mass recruitment drive last month in a bid to ensure the most vulnerable are protected during the coronavirus outbreak.
The search for carers started after staff members went into self isolation and volunteers were less able to help.
Many of the recruits are now starting in their roles.
Tracy Rodger is the new support worke r with Quarriers Village Supported Living services, which supports people with disabilities to live independently within their own communities.
Tracy joins Quarriers from RAMH in Paisley, where she had been working as a mental health support worker.
She has also held the roles of manager, teacher and counsellor throughout her professional career.
Tracy said: “This is an unusual and challenging time and, although the interview was by telephone and took place at short notice, I felt that the process was thorough.
“The ethos of Quarriers fits with my values of enabling individuals to use tailored support to achieve meaningful and realistic personal goals and I am looking forward to starting and meeting colleagues and service users.”
Dr Ron Culley, chief executive officer with Quarriers, added: “This is a very difficult and challenging time for everyone and the social care sector has a very important role to play in providing much- needed support to some of society’s most vulnerable.
“We are indebted to all our staff and volunteers for their hard work in continuing to provide such a high level of service, but we are still recruiting to boost our staff numbers and looking forward to additional staff joining our committed team.”
Quarriers is still recruiting for further roles and vacancies can be found at quarriers.org. uk/jobs/
