Travel boss reassures customers about refunds

-

Barrhead Travel insists its staff are working to secure refunds for people who had trips cancelled because of coronavirus.

The company said it is working around the clock to help their customers who had holidays cancelled or cut short by the pandemic.

Some customers have expressed frustration at delays in getting their money back on the Trustpilot reviews website.

Jacqueline Dobson, president of the Barrhead-based company, said: “During these unprecedented times Barrhead Travel, along with every other travel agent in the UK and across the world, is having to deal with the disruption that the current coronavirus pandemic is having on the travel sector.

“Just like our own valued customers, hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers in the UK have been affected by this crisis.

“A much reduced Barrhead Travel team is working around the clock to either rebook holidays or arrange a refund for every single customer.

“We appreciate that this has caused some frustration, but all efforts are being made to arrange refunds or rearrange holidays as quickly as is physically possible.

“As Barrhead Travel acts as the agent for our customers, we firstly have to receive the money back from our tour operator partners before we can refund our customers.

“As all of our global partners are experiencing extensive disruption and challenges themselves, the refund process is taking longer than usual.

“Barrhead Travel passes on refunds as soon as we receive this back from the tour operator.”

It is understood that Barrhead Travel staff, who are working remotely from home, are dealing with cancelled holidays in the order they were booked.
