Hunt for attacker wearing gold ring

A man was battered senseless in a common close by a brute wearing a gold ring.

Detectives have launched a hunt for the attacker and his accomplice after a 31-year-old man suffered serious head and facial injuries in Cowal Drive, Linwood.

The victim was left covered in blood after he was repeatedly punched to the head after getting into an altercatio­n with his attacker at around noon, police revealed.

He was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received stitches to his wounds.

Another man, 44, who went to intervene, also suffered minor injuries.

The main attacker is described as being 5ft 9ins tall, with black hair with a fringe and stubble. He was wearing a black pullover, and blue jeans. He was also wearing gold jewellery.

Cops probing the violent attack have urged witnesses to come forward and say they are carrying out extensive enquires in relation to the incident.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, of Paisley CID said: “A 31-year-old man suffered serious head and face injuries after he was assaulted by two men within a common close in Cowal Drive, Linwood at around 12pm on Saturday.

“A second victim, a male aged 44, also suffered minor injuries during the incident.

“The younger man required hospital treatment for his wounds

“This was a nasty and sustained assault, which took place in the middle of the day.

“We are checking for CCTV opportunit­ies and have carried out door to door enquiries in the area.”

He added: “We are appealing to anyone who may have heard or saw what happened to please get in touch with officers.

“Did you see two males loitering fitting the descriptio­n in the area either before or after the attack?

“If so, we would like to hear from you.”
