Cops hunt brute after assault

A thug leapt from a car and punched a woman twice in the face before racing off.

The shocking incident happened in Paisley’s Glencoats Drive around 4.30pm on Friday.

The 35- year- old victim suffered minor injuries in the mindless attack and has been left shaken by the ordeal.

It is understood she was walking along the road in the Ferguslie area of the town when a car pulled up alongside her.

The cowardly brute jumped from the motor and struck her twice in the face before racing off.

She did not require hospital treatment.

Cops probing the broad daylight assault said they are carrying out a range of enquiries in the area including checking CCTV and quizzing locals.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, from Paisley’s community policing team, said: “We are investigat­ing after a 35-yearold woman was assaulted by a male in Glencoats Drive.

“A male got out of a motor vehicle and assaulted her before making off.

“Thankfully, she was not seriously injured.

“This was a cowardly and nasty assault and we are very keen to trace the individual responsibl­e.

“If you saw what happened or have any informatio­n about the incident then I would urge you to get in contact with us.”

She added: “We are following a positive line of enquiry at this time.”

Meanwhile in a separate incident, two men have been arrested on suspicion of assaulting another man outside a shop in Lochaline Avenue, in Paisley.

The pair, aged 53 and 33, are said to have battered a 53-year-old man near the Day-Today store around 6.30pm on Friday.

The victim was allegedly punched and kicked to the ground and suffered minor injuries.

Police say a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal
