Alan ‘honoured’ to be new Quarriers chairman
Care charity Quarriers has announced Alan Frizzell will be taking over as the chairman of its board of trustees.
Alan – who has been a board member since 2016 and a member of the Audit and Finance and General Purposes committees - will take over from Tom Scholes, who has been a Quarriers’ trustee for almost ten years.
Professor Michael Greaves will take up the role of deputy chairman as Sheila Gillies steps down as a trustee after almost a decade.
New chairman Alan will lead the board to oversee the management and performance of the organisation.
He said: “I would like to thank both Tom and Sheila for all the hard work and dedication they have shown Quarriers over the past nine years.
“The organisation has benefited enormously from their tenure and they leave very big shoes to fill.
“Personally, I am very honoured to become chairman of such a great organisation.
“I am excited to work more closely with the senior leadership team, alongside our new CEO Ron Culley.”
Michael has been a trustee for Quarriers since 2014 and has played a key role on the board and to the Safeguarding and Services’ committee.
He said: “Although we are living in unprecedented times, I appreciate fully the very solid base for ongoing success afforded by the outstanding devotion and skills of Quarriers’ staff and volunteers.
“I look forward to working alongside the new chairman and CEO to continue to fulfil Quarriers’ mission.”
Dr Ron Culley, CEO, added: “I would like to thank both Tom and Sheila for their leadership and the countless hours they have given Quarriers over a number of years which has helped establish the charity as one of Scotland’s leading social care organisations.”
