Award for hotel chain as it helps key workers

-

The Manorview Hotels and Leisure Group has picked up a top gong at the Scottish Hotel Awards.

A gala dinner due to be held on April 26, which would have been the 17th annual award ceremony, was postponed due to the current Covid-19 crisis.

Instead Scottish hoteliers and staff were invited to join online while the announcements were made - with Manorview Hotels and Leisure Group, which owns The Lynnhurst Hotel in Johnstone and the Bowfield in Howwood - taking the top prize of Hotel Group of the Year.

The organisers made this decision to give hotels and businesses some welcome good news and also to show support and recognition for their achievements.

The Manorview Group f o rmed in 2007 and comprises eight hotels, two nightclubs, two pubs, a fitness and leisure centre and luxury spa.

The group made the decision to cease trading on the March 18, to safeguard the health and safety of their team, customers and communities, and also to protect their business and the jobs of their workforce.

A week later Manorview offered its empty bedrooms for NHS and frontline workers, at no cost to individuals.

More than 2,000 bedroom bookings have been secured, enabling a crucial workforce to continue to go to their work while also protecting their own families at home.

The group’s managing director David Tracey said: “Sadly our industry is going through an incredibly challenging time, as is the case with many other sectors.

“To receive some good news is very welcome and we’re delighted to have been recognised, it means a lot to everyone in the Manorview team.

“We also wish to extend our congratulations to all winners, runners- up and those nominated.

“We hope this has also given you a lift during these troubled times.”
