Online music lessons by Loud‘n’Proud hit the right note

-

Budding young musicians determined to keep the beat during lockdown can enjoy online lessons thanks to Paisley charity Loud‘n’Proud.

Tutors from the School Wynd organisation will be posting weekly classes thanks to a Community Response, Recovery and Resilience Fund Grant from Foundation

Scotland.

The charity hopes to reach as many youngsters as possible with the simple lessons, which kicked off last week.

Head of music at Loud‘n’Proud Jamie McGrory sadid: “With schools closed as a result of coronavirus pandemic, some parents are left wondering how their kids can fill their time at home and how they are going to keep up and maintain a standard for exams when they get back to school which probably will be after summer.

“The school shutdown is a threat to children’s academic progress, safety and social life. This crisis disproportionately affects low-income families and those with special needs.

“We are trying to fill that gap for young people who are not being able to continue their education. And of course it is simply having something to do and look forward to. Taking part would be good for their mental health and no doubt their parents.”

Grant funding will allow the charity to post lessons to reach the most in need, Jamie said.

“The grant has made it possible to offer online support for young musicians who are receiving no lessons due the schools being closed and can’t afford to pay for an online tutor.

“The lessons are mainly aimed at young people, although anyone can join in, who can play around intermediate level and beyond.”

A team of five professional musicians from Loud‘n’Proud are putting together a series of tips on how to play guitar, drums bass keyboards and vocals. They are Jamie, Marcus Cordock, Ian Thomson, Marco Cafolla and Madeleine Pritchard.

Included in the series is how to play

Alicia Keys hit Girl on Fire and

Figure it Out by Royal Blood. Each player has put together a tutorial for each of their instruments in the songs all broken down into all the parts and explained. A play along video is also included.

New videos will be uploaded every Monday for 12 weeks.
