Survey will help carers cope with pandemic

-

Renfrewshire Carers Centre is conducting a survey to find out how the coronavirus pandemic has affected carers across the district.

Staff from the centre are still working remotely to support carers and their loved ones through the health crisis.

It is the hub for unpaid carers in Renfrewshire to access their personal protective equipment (PPE).

And it has now launched a survey to gather information on carers’needs and how their lives have changed due to the pandemic.

It is hoped all the information gathered will help inform Renfrewshire’s Health and Social Care Partnership and other local partner agencies on what carers’needs and priorities are at the moment.

Tracy Wallace from the centre said:“We’re getting feedback from some carers saying not much has changed for them because they weren’t able to get out much anyway. Other people are working from home or are furloughed and their loved ones aren’t going to their normal centres so their lives have changed massively.

“We’re hearing that anxiety has increased massively in case their loves ones get Covid-19 or what will happen to their loved one if they get it and have to isolate.

“This is a 15-question survey and we’re asking people how they’ve been impacted by Covid-19 in their caring role.

“The results will feed back into our service and also the health and social care partnership and our partner agencies.”

The anonymous survey is now open – goo to the Renfrewshire Carers website at renfrewshire carers.org.uk/ and take part before Friday, May 22.
