LOCKDOWN THROUGH A LENS
NARINDAR’S AMAZING PHOTOS
A Paisley photographer is capturing a little bit of family history by taking doorstep portraits of people at home during lockdown.
Narindar Singh, 32, has been left unable to work at her photography business during the pandemic.
But while she was disappointed by the impact on her business, the mum- of- two decided to reach out to couples and families in Renfrewshire to see if they wanted a keepsake of their time at home together.
She has since been using her daily walks to travel to the homes of those she photographs, who all come out and stand at their front doors and in their gardens so she can take the unique family portrait.
Narindar, who is known as Nindoo, said: “It is just something a bit different.
“Like so many people, I’ve experienced some very real challenges as a non-essential selfemployed worker and as a result of this pandemic my own business has ground to a halt.
“I started to think about other people like me who are staying at home and thought this is such a strange situation for us all.
“I thought I could maybe help people capture it as it is a time we will all remember.
“It really is a moment in history as people have never experienced this before and they are all home together for long periods of time.
“It’s a nice memory for them to look back on in years to come when this is all over.”
Narindar, who set up her business Nindoo Photography in 2017, says the lockdown portraits are also helping people to stay connected.
She is currently staying at her home in Ralston with her husband Gupreet and their two young sons.
She says she is enjoying being able to meet and speak with different people who may be feeling isolated.
She added: “It’s been quite an emotional experience with my clients on these shoots.
“In such challenging times, it feels incredibly powerful to capture a moment of joy that will serve as a reminder of being so strongly connected to one another.
“I thought it could be a little thing families could smile about even for that short period.
“In this situation we are all being tested mentally and physically so I just want to share the love and be there.
“These families have given me something to smile about and I hope I have lightened up their day too.
“It’s a privilege to be involved in those moments.”
