Alan’s first cut will be for charity
Barber to host fundraiser when his salon reopens
A popular Paisley barber is looking forward to when he can get snippy again by offering all of his proceeds to charity from his first day of re-opening.
Like all other hairdressers, Alan’s Barbers, in Neilston Road, has been closed during the pandemic.
But with a chink of light now at the end of the tunnel, business owner Alan Dunn, is looking forward to the day he can welcome customers back - and he’s thinking of others first.
The 55- year- old, who has been a barber since the age of 16, said: “When I am allowed to open my doors to the public again, I expect new government measures mean that working conditions will have to change, such as the introduction of PPE for example.
“One major change I will implement is the introduction of an appointments system, which is a major change compared to the walk-in system I have operated with for many years now.
“On my first day of reopening all proceeds will go to charity.
“During the past three months the shop has been closed, I have been in contact with the families of three of my customers who have sadly passed away.
“Therefore, on the first day of reopening I am auctioning ten hair appointments to the highest bidders, with 100 per cent of proceeds raised being given to the families to donate to charities of their choice.
“I will also donate what would have been my day’s takings for that day.”
The biddings for the auction are open now and will close one week before the date the government outlines as the appropriate reopening date.
To take part in the auction, you can bid through texting or calling 07845 060876.
Alan is looking forward to getting fully up and running again.
“In regards to the new appointments system, once the government has outlined the suitable reopening date, appointments can be arranged for the second day of business and onwards, to allow space for the first day’s charity event,” he said.
“I will provide details on how to arrange appointments once we have a clear date from the government.”
Alan added: “I look forward to welcoming everyone back, but in the meantime stay safe, and thank you for your support.”
